In daily life, we often see stray cats and dogs, but few people consider the deeper social issues behind their presence.
In August 2023, I lost my dog of nine years, which led me to start focusing on the plight of stray animals in China. Through research and comparison with the UK, I discovered that China lacks effective animal protection laws and related systems.
This project includes a series of illustrations and video works from the perspective of stray dogs, compiled into a book. It traces their silent journeys through both rural and urban spaces, starting from a lost pet and gradually expanding to reflect
on broader social issues—particularly the consequences of the absence of legislation.
Through visual storytelling and field investigation, I hope to raise public awareness and call for legal reforms. Protecting stray animals is not only about compassion, but also about systemic change—only with proper laws can real solutions begin.
