Dreamcore

This project explores the online art style “Dreamcore,” which uses low-quality photos and digital edits to evoke feelings of confusion, nostalgia, and unease—like being trapped in a hazy dream. Inspired by dreamcore images and videos found online, I was drawn to their surreal atmosphere, where unclear visuals, strange sounds, and flickering voices create the sense that “something is just about to happen.”

I often experience strange and fragmented dreams, so I began recording and researching them, turning key moments into a video. I photographed everyday places like malls, supermarkets, and my nephew’s room, then digitally processed the images—adjusting colors, blurring scenes, and adding hand-drawn elements. High-saturation tones were used to reflect dreamlike intensity. All materials were finally edited into a unified video narrative, beginning with an illustration from my own drawing.
